Is it scary when a REALLY intelligent person fails to apprehend the simplest matters?

I love this question. It reminds me of when the 9/11 attack came up in conversation at work. We were all saying how tower 7 collapsing was sketch as hell, it didn't even get hit by a ******* plane. And this one kid who's going to school for biochemical engineering or something crazy like that was like no it fell cause it caught on fire. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. How can someone so smart have absolutely no ability to think for themselves with their own brain. Also not trying to be a but did you mean apprehend or comprehend?
