Polynesian tattoo help?

ok, i was just wondering everyones thinks about Polynesian style tattoos? I understand that tribal tattoos are looked at (by most people with REAL tattoos) as dumb and meaningless, but are Polynesian tattoos looked at the same way? I personally hate tribal stuff (no offense to people with tribal tattoos) but for some reason really like Polynesian stuff, I like that along with looking sick, they actually have really deep meaning too. I was just wondering if I'd be looked at as a tool if i got one.
