Dana, have you read Climate Wars by Gwynne Dyer yet, it’s a very sobering book. In it one of the areas he discuses is the Himalayan glaciers and the fact that they supply a considerable amount of water to two nuclear armed nations India and Pakistan via the Indus basin. Shrinking glaciers threaten this water supply and could lead to armed conflict between these two already belligerent nations. The really nasty thing about this whole situation is that damage to the glaciers is already in the atmosphere and we can do nothing about it other than to exasperate the situation.
